EETZ BLAQ TAKES PEDI RAP TO THE NEXT LEVEL
written by Valencia Legodi
Tshepo Mogala popularly known as Eetz Blaq was born on the 9th of February 1992 in Gauteng and raised in Limpopo at Ga-Molepo, he is a rapper , creative director, model, entrepreneur and motivational speaker. he is also a man that impacts masses through with his powerful vernacular punch lines and he is a top headliner on his own.
The stage name "Eetz Blaq" was inspired by people that heard him rap during studio sessions and cyphers, after hearing him rap a couple of times they named him "black out" and later he realized that the name was long and changed it to "it's black" but chose to write it in his own modified way.
"I grew up listening to music and writing lyrics in a book, having a music book made me realize my passion as I wrote lyrics of songs by well known artists and imitated my favorite rappers. in 2010 when I was still in college I also realized that I could use my musical talent to inspire and change lives, years later I met friends who taught how to rap, write and how to connect with audience or crowds when I perform" he said.
Mogala's journey was inspired by Nipsey Husssle, through his music he learnt to be selfless and that teaching others what you know or what you have learnt is more than enough, like a wise man once said "a mastermind is one who feeds others off his talent". in all songs that he has written thus far Majin-buu is his favorite, because it speaks about the struggles and challenges that every young man goes through between the ages of 18-32 and the responsibilities that comes with that age. he wrote the song to encourage young men to face their challenges head on and conquer them.
the challenges that the he faced was Payola (paying radio DJs an amount for an artist's music to be played on radio) and people failing to understand that his craft has value. he added that people tend to exploit artist and disrespect their crafts as local artists. since he started on a new slate he shared stages with the likes of Master kg, Dj shimza and Makhadzi.
In 2020 he was featured on Blaklez 's music video and dressed Blaklez, PDot0, N'veigh and kwesta for the 'slow poison remix. he was nominated 9 times with only two songs released and also handled over 60 media platforms (newspapers, Tv, radios and podcasts). In future he would like to work with the likes of Zakwe ,kwesta and Mnqobi Yazo.
the rapper's future is to become a most successful entrepreneur, artist and franchise owner. the advice he has for upcoming rappers is that they should practice, pray to God, be humble and know what they want. "Never take critics from someone you would never take advice from, believe in yourself, in what you do and lastly know who you are, what you want and what you stand for" he concluded.
