She started baking in 2019 as a hobby and then she realised that she needed more training, she registered for a 4 months course at the community centre in Ga-Rankuwa. Growing up she wanted to be in the SADF and in 2010 she joined the south African navy “ those were the best days of my life, serving and defending my country in uniform and also furthering my love for cooking as a chef in the navy” said Naledi. The radio presenter and blogger fell in love with writing back in high school, she started by writing songs, poetry and her thoughts in a journal. She later started blogging which improved her writing skills. “I had a dream and in the dream the exact thing that I wrote about in the book happened, I wrote a poem and later I realized that there is more to tell regarding the story, so I was like why not expand the vision and write a novel” Shylett says.   Before writing her novel she used to read a lot of self-help and inspirational books.
