MY HELP TURNED INTO MY WORST NIGHTMARE!

written by Valencia Legodi
Thozama Phikiso (31) was born and raised in Eastern Cape by her single mother; she is the first born and has three siblings. She completed her grade 12 in 2005, furthered her studies at Walter Sisulu University in 2006 and moved to Cape Town in 2008 to seek for employment. Living in the mother city helped realize things she was passionate about and she was good at, one of the things was her ability to play the keyboard skilfully.

In 2012 she came to Johannesburg to continue with employment search and later found a job as sales person. After a year she was offered a permanent job as a contractor, she worked well until 22 august 2016 when she fell ill, it started as pain in the throat for a week and later swallowed to a point of disrupting her vocal cord.

“At first I thought my vocal cord was strained, I used normal flu home remedies until it got worse. I visited the clinic and they transferred me to kalafong hospital, doctors did some tests and concluded that I had to undergo an operation even though they could not really tell what it was. That scared me because growing up I had seen people undergo surgery and not regaining consciousness” she said.

In September she went back home and upon her arrival her mother’s heart broke, she just could not bare seeing her first child in so much pain and after a few days she invited her church mates to come pray for her. When she was sitting alone in her room she remembered a pastor she once met in Johannesburg and had faith that he could heal her, she spoke to her mother about it and requested to come back to joburg to look for him, her mother agreed and asked her young sister to travel with her since she could not speak.

She looked for the pastor until she found him; he advised that they should travel to voslorus to see his bishop who could heal her completely, she went back home to pack and left with the pastor to go see the bishop. They reached a certain missionary house upon their arrival he changed his story and said that if she wanted to be healed she would have to sleep with him, they argued about that and fought when he blocked her way and refused to unlock doors for her to leave.  Later when they sitting in the room he took out a book that had satanic rituals in detail, he forced her to read it but she refused, he grabbed her forcefully and continued forcing her to read the book.

“Honestly I don’t know where I got the strength from, but I pushed him away from me, looked for the keys until I found them and I ran as fast as I could, as I ran I saw him chasing me with a knife and then I ran faster until I saw a house. I entered the house and found an old woman in it, I told her what had happened and asked for water “Thozama said.

She left the house and continued with her journey until she saw another house and two men were sitting outside, she told them her story and they told her that they will accompany her back to the house to take her belongings. When they arrived they asked the pastor to give them her belongings but he refused, she pushed him out of the way and headed to the room where she left her belongings, she took her bag and packed her other things into including phone charger and then went into another room to look for her other stuff.

She says the room allegedly had black plastics full of human parts, as she was still dumb struck in the room ,she felt a sharp object on her stomach and when she turned to look who it was ,the man pressed the screw driver harder and she screamed loud until people came to her rescue. She was rushed to the hospital and after a few months she underwent the operation, she healed and regained her voice slowly.

“The doctor said he saw something in my throat that was a size of a finger, after the operation I spent two weeks without eating proper food, I drank only fluids like mageu. After I was discharged I went to church, they prayed for me and I healed completely. Every time I see a picture of a missing girl or a girl found dead somewhere I thank god because he gave me a second chance, if it was not by his grace I would have been counted in the statistic of missing girls found dead “she concluded.

At first she did not believe that such things do happen until she found herself in the situation, she posted a video clip of herself narrating this story two days ago. She hopes it will help women be cautious and be careful with who they trust with their personal information
