PUSELETSO IS A TOTALLY FIERCE RULLING DIVA OF THE UNDERGROUND

Written by Valencia Legodi

Matefello Puseletso Ramokhoase popularly known as Ms P is an Olievenhoutbosch disc jockey and entrepreneur born (October 1, 1988) and bred in Soshanguve. She is a loving, bubbly, fun and intelligent young female DJ that was raised in a strict family; her father had enough money to fund her education, but refused to pay for any course that is entertainment related.

“I grew up being the center of attention at home, most of the time when there was an event or celebration at home; I would play a song and dance to it. They even gave me a nick name seboko which means worm and in school I participated in all activities (netball, drama and dance), as I grew older my love for music developed and it led to me being a DJ full time”.

Growing up Puseletso wanted to be an engineer until she realized that she was not good with numbers. In 2013 she enrolled at Foreal Academy; a well-known school of DJs in Pretoria. She did a 3 months course where she was taught all basics of being a Disc Jockey, how to select songs, sequence, mix songs of the same BPM, tell a story through music, how to read the crowd’s mood and body language through selection of songs.

When asked about who inspired her career, she said that all women who work hard to make it in the entertainment industry  inspire her and that pin pointing individuals by names will not do as the list is endless. She added that throughout her deejaying career, she has been her own greatest inspiration as she kept going regardless of her failures, losses and mistakes.

Challenges she faced when she started was getting gigs and being paid for them, currently her challenges are getting gigs and getting event promoters and club owners to accept the price she charges to play at an event. Another challenge is the technology that changes daily, adapting and keeping up is difficult because in the entertainment industry one has to quickly move past the old technology to the new as it changes.

The 32 year old is currently working on a project called “Power rangers of house” with the assistance of two ladies, the aim of the project is to promote and network through the available platforms. One thing she would like to do for the community is to bring young entrepreneurs together and give them an opportunity to exchange knowledge, learn everything that has to do with business and help each other build successful businesses.

In five years’ time she aspires to own a well-established ice cube manufacturing warehouse and be a top headliner, most influential and entertaining DJ across the globe. “If you want to make it in the entertainment industry do not pursue it for the fame, you must be passionate with what you do and be willing to sacrifice a lot to make your dream a reality.do not be a copy of what is already there, show up with your unique skills and dominate. Lastly entertainment industry is not for the faint hearted, therefore you must be strong, have a backbone, be humble, be focused, respect others, be confident and stay true to yourself” she concluded.
